Dobermann Reactivity Training Program – Help Your Dog Become Calm and Focused
Tailored specifically for the dobermann, our 8-week Reducing Reactivity programme will provide you with the skills and knowledge that you need to understand where your dog’s reactivity is originating from and how to help them manage the big feelings and breed drives that can make modern life so difficult for them to navigate.
If any of the following sounds familiar:
- painful walks where you are being pulled along
- frustration at the lunging at passing dogs
- embarrassment from the spinning and vocalizing at other dogs
- fed up with fence running
- tired of the chaos indoors when the doorbell rings or deliveries come
- frightened by the launching out the door to chase cats, birds or the neighbors’ dog
- unsettled by not knowing how your dog will respond to visitors
Below is a peek into the basics of our Reducing Reactivity curriculum:
Our Step-by-Step 8-Week Course Designed to Reduce Reactivity and Build Your Dobermann’s Confidence
Understand –
We help you understand reactivity, what causes the over-reactive behaviour in some dogs. You will be taught what that behaviour can look like and why is can be hard for us as well as our dogs. You will gain an understanding of what triggers your dog and how to manage things for calmness
Observe –
You will be given information on how to evaluate for hidden pain or illness and the best way to provide observations to your vet. We will cover the importance of learning your dog’s body language so you can understand when he is beginning to struggle. You will identify what is your dog’s strongest motivator to help you have the most effective training sessions.
Reset –
Our program helps you wipe the slate as clean as possible so that you and your dog can begin training for reducing reactivity in the best mindset.
Build Confidence –
Fear and insecurity in dogs can manifest in over-reactive behaviours. You will learn how to build your dog’s confidence with a variety of new skills that will help your dog succeed and help meet their breed needs.
Essential Skills –
We will help you learn the core handling skills that can really make your sessions clear for your dog. You will learn the correct handling for long-line activities, muzzle training and even recall.
Grow Your Relationship –
Having a healthy relationship with your dog will make training fun and more successful for you both. You will learn ways to build that relationship and things to avoid that may hinder it.
Advance Your Skills –
We will give you additional training on how to build your skills into life-long learning for your dog. Ways to influence your dog’s behaviour and what to do with specific hot points.
Ready for the Real World –
Our program will help you evaluate your progress and make achievable goals. You will learn how to transition your newly built skills into real world situations at a pace that your dog can be successful.
Students become part of our private Facebook group for our Reducing Reactivity class members. You will have access here to ask our trainers any questions you may have. You will share videos of the exercises you are doing with your dogs for trainer input in this group as well. Pictures of locations you are struggling with can be shown for tailored feedback. We will even help you with management for problems areas in your home.
Our students love the supportive nature of our groups and many stay in contact with other class members who have become friends!
“The saying is you can’t teach an old dog new tricks but trust me you most certainly can.
My Bella Is 8 now and I’m ancient and until the autumn of last year Bella was a nightmare to take anywhere, pulling, spinning, twisting, reactive and prey driven, even after years of trying and all sorts of training. Then I found Sharon Chamberlin, joined her group and followed some of her courses. Absolute miracle change in Bella”

“I just wanted to give you an update on Otis. He is not turning into a beautiful well mannered young man. We are still training everyday, introducing him to new places slowly! and he seems so much happier and content. He still has his moment’s and times when he’s unsure but, I know when he’s feeling uneasy and get him out of that situations. I really can’t thank you enough, I never thought we get where we are and if I had not found you I know we would not have. Thanks again”

“I cannot thank you enough for all our training. We had stopped taking Leto on walks on the lovely South Downs near us because it was such hard work dealing with Leto’s prey drive which resulted in him either hurtling off into the distance or going bananas on the end of the lead, making it miserable for all of us.
Since doing the prey drive training in addition to all the other training we’ve been doing, I’ve just been able to take him up there for the third time and had a great walk again.”
Lynn
“He is no longer reactive to cyclists, runners and passers by at all & his reactivity towards other dogs is greatly improved since implementing techniques taught in this course.”
Alison
